Discover for yourself the art and aesthetics behind the functional and familiar at London Transport Museum’s latest exhibition Designology. The exhibition explores how design is encountered in our everyday journeys and how it has evolved over the last century, as well as looking at how our travel experiences might develop in the future. Moving from the visual to the virtual and from Victorian engineering genius to modernist masterpieces, Designology uncovers the fascinating designs and processes behind London’s moving metropolis. Highlights of the exhibition include posters from the golden age of travel, historic maps, tickets and signage, as well as a pop up Design Studio where visitors will be able to find out more about contemporary design innovation. As visitors make their way through the exhibition they will begin to recognise the underlying design that surrounds them - design hidden by its familiarity in everyday life. The exhibition opens on 20 May. From 18.45 on the opening day the museum will host a Friday Late, which gives you the opportunity to see the exhibition; take part in fun workshops, talks, a quiz and a mosaic craft session, or simply wander around the museum and exhibition with a London Transport themed cocktail while the DJ spins the discs.
